On the Bushmaster 16' carbine with the "fixed" stock, is there anything that keeps the buffer retainer and buffer retainer spring in place?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

The buffer tube itself performs that function.

It needs to be threaded deep enough into the receiver to overlap the retainer.

Ahhhh.. perfect.  I didn't thread it deep enough to toutch the buffer retainer.  That makes total since now.  Thank you for your help!

It must have a hell of an iron sight radius!  However, it requires a seriously long cleaning rod.

I'm getting 1/4 in. @ 3000yds. with my bushmaster 16ft. barrel, I'm very happy with it, but, I'm checking into a lightweight version for my next purchase.
