I looked through several threads but didn't see anything on this. I have a A2 BM upper that fits a bit too loose for my liking to a BM lower. In fact, an A3 upper that came with the BM lower fits a bit loose too, (it was like that out of the box)but not as bad as the spare A2 I wrote of first. Are there any tricks to tighening up the fit? I have a accu-wedge in and it does help but not quite enough. |

How lose is it. Take or get a set of feeler guages and measure the gap. You need flat style not wire type feeler guages. Now if it is to loose I would send it back to Bushmaster. You should not have to use any kind of 2 piece pins. Maybe an Acu-wedge and I tried that with my Varminter and it made it to tight. My Varminter takes a .0025and that is a snug fit My V-Match 16"takes a .003 and thats a tight fit a .002 is a little lose. I would say anything over a .004-.005 is to much Maybe .006 but thats getting up there. Measure and lets see how much you get My AR10 also gets .003 tight and a .002 lose. I just built 2 for some people and they were both .003. One was an Eagle Arms lower and the other was an DPMS upper on a Bushmaster lower. My Tormix Lower which I just built with an Bewoulf 16" upper .001 tight and .0025 lose. Hope this helps |

If you want to go the Accu-wedge route that edpmedic mentioned, they are $1.99 from www.cdnninvestments.com/ If the fit is then too tight, they are "adjustable" in that it doesn't take much to file a bit off and re-test. They still allow you to just tap out the rear pin for cleaning without the tools needed for the tensioning devices. However, the tensioning pin supposedly does a better job. BTW my boot camp M-16 was called "Lucy" -- the upper and lower rattled. Edpmedic could have measured it with a wooden stick. Needless to say my technique of driving out the rear pin with a sharp blow from my knuckle changed after my first experience with a new one. |

I have an accu-wedge in it. The AW works fine with the A3 upper which has .003 slop without the wedge. The subject A2 has .005 without the wedge but is still sloppy with the wedge in it. So I ordered the expando pin that Slidestop mentioned. If that doesn't solve it I'm getting another upper or better yet a matched set. Thanks guys. Or should I say a reproduced set? |
