Received my first AR kit (as well as first AR) from J&T, and I have to agree, it's as advertised. I finished building the lower, and when trying to fit the top on, found out I made a dumbass mistake. In reading the Lower Assembly instructions, I installed the pivot pin, and am now stuck here, staring at my lower, trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to get the pin out, since it has a spring and pin holding it in place. Any help from you more knowledgable forum members would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JJ |

DeepSeaSnakes... I'm not JJ, but I just went through this and can answer your question. I bought an Eagle arms receiver for $100 from quantico. Shipping and transfer fees brought that up to $125. I bought the 16" CAR kit from J&T for $450, plus about $10 for shipping. The kit has a 16" chrome-moly barrel complete with a finished upper. The kit includes the standard A2 stock, plus the parts to finish the lower receiver. A 30 round used USGI magazine runs about $20. So the total looks to be about $605 with shipping and fees. The comparable Bushmaster in the local store is about $795, with a 10 round magazine. Add 8% tax to that, and the savings seems to be in the $250 range. I'm waiting for the stock to arrive, but the assembly has been easy so far with no special tools and a little common sense. I don't claim that my weapon is as good as a bushy (might be, might not be), but putting it together is more rewarding for me than buying one...YMMV |

DeepSeaSnakes, I decided to build a 20" A2 kit from J&T using a Eagle Arms lower. Here were my costs: Lower receiver (including shipping) - $98.95 FFL Transfer Fee - $20.00 J&T A2 20" Kit (inculding shipping to Nebraska) - $468.00 Total price of gun = $586.95 Extras (so far): 2 30 round clips (www.cruffler.com, including shipping) - $38.00 3 Boxes of Winchester Q3131A - $14.37 Hoppes No. 9 cleaning kit - $8.72 Hoppes .22 cal "Bore Snake" - $13.72 Breakfree CLP - $8.72 Total Project Investment = $670.48 I was a little worried about my ability to complete the kit from J&T as my knowledge of rifle mechanics is average at best. I ran into a couple of minor problems, but nothing that a little common sense and help from fellow forum members couldn't fix. There are some advantages to buying direct from a manufacturer, but being a college student, I tried to keep the costs to a minimum (although $600+ bucks would have bought a lot of Budweisers). I am very happy with the finished product. I have a pictu |

The lowers from Quantico are great quality. I just picked up 4 last night from my FFL. I also got in on the 90 dollar deal and couldn't pass it up. I definately reccommend Quatico. So far I am very pleased with J&T even though I haven't received my kit yet. Their service is awesome IMO. I ordered the 16" fluted SS bull barrel kit with the appropriate trimmings. |
