This is my first build (Oly lower, 16" A2 kit from Garrision Mfg.) When I built up the lower there didn't seem to be much movement in the disconnector, but there was enough for it to work. At the first test firing the trigger doesn't always return forward, you have push it back forward about 50% of the time, the other 50% it retuns on it's own. I was only able to but about 40 rounds through the rifle before I started to have a problem with a setscrew comp (see other post). So does the FCG need some rounds and time to breakin or is there not enough play in the disconnector? And if I need more movement in the disconnector how do I accomplsh that? The read takedown pin is also real tight. I can't operate it with just my fingers, but have to use a punch or a round. Should this breakin over time or should I trim the takedown detent spring a few coils? |

Are you sure you installed trigger spring correctly, AND sure you installed the coil spring for the disconnector? And if I need more movement in the disconnector how do I accomplsh that? You dont. If you installed all parts correctly, and have an issue, the cheapest thing to do is try out another FCG and then find the offensive part. The read takedown pin is also real tight. I can't operate it with just my fingers, but have to use a punch or a round. Should this breakin over time or should I trim the takedown detent spring a few coils? Nah, this is a good thing. It is cause by a rough hole or good tight upper/lower fit. This will break in over time. Be happy. To test the detent theory, just remove the opper from the lower. Then slide the takedown pin open and closed. Is it still tight? I doubt it. |
