The dust cover spring on my AR has broken and I need to replace it.  Can someone tell me how the dust cover comes off, and also, how does the spring go on and in what orientation?  Thanks for any help.  I looked in the TM, but couldn't find any reference to the dust cover.

Thanks alpo.  That is just what I needed.  I guess I overlooked it when I was looking in the TM.  It was the on line TM, and it was hard as the dickens going from page to page.  Much obliged.  Ron

The last time I replaced an ejection port cover on an A2 upper I had to remove the barrel.

The pin can only slide out towards the front unless you have an M16 upper (no FA or BD).

I do recall reading one post of someone being able to remove the pin by sliding it to the rear, but I wouldn't force anything...

Yea, I found that out earlier today when I tried to take the pin out.  I wound up placing two pieces of duct tape on the receiver next to the forward assist to keep the scratching down, and forced the pin out anyway.  I was afraid I might bend the pin, but as it turned out, it came out fine.  I also wound up loosing the little c-clip that holds the pin in.  Glad I ordered a couple more.  You just have to go slow and be careful.  Thanks for all the help.
