| if i blind pin and then weld the end of the pin, will it hurt the chrome lining of a chrome lined bore? |
|
What you describe doing in my opinion is the best way to tackle this challenge. Little heat will be transferred to the barrel. Some silver solder instead and with that the barrel itself needs to be heated to a pretty high temp. which in my opinion is not such a good thing. Good luck, Mark |

Do not under any circumstances gas weld (oxy-acetylene) the pins or brake to the barrel/brake. The whole assembly will get way too hot before you can effectively weld. This excessive heat will damage the barrel and a large area of the original finish. TIG weld only! |
| Russ & mk1 are right on, the idea is to not use enough heat to affect anything but the pin to brake area,( just a few .000" around the pin). The guy I use covers the area around the pin w/heat sink putty & with a very small tungsten in his tig, spots the pin to the brake. You can put your finger on the weld a second after he welds it & it's not even warm. Have done many this way with zero problems. Good Shooting, ALLONS11 |
