My financial officer says i can get a varmint weapon.  I've pondered over this for endless hours and i've decided on one built on the AR platform.  I know i could come out cheaper with a Savage bolt but i'm different.  I'm probably  going to buy an upper and use it on my Bushmaster lower until i can build a lower or get a kit along with the upper.  The kit from J&T is probably a better deal because it comes with bolt and other goodies. I'm also looking at the Rock River Varmint upper and later get their lower with their trigger.

Now i would like your suggestions on the following:

J&T Distributing with Shaw barrel

Rock River with Wilson / Wilde chamber

Which length barrel?  I'm leaning toward the 20" or 24"   b/c i already have a nice 16" Dissapator

Flat top or one with a riser?

Any suggestions will be welcomed.

I have a the J&T Distributing flat top upper with a 24" Shaw barrel that shoots right at half inch at 100 yards with the 52 grain Sierra MatchKing. I am pleased with the accuracy for the price.

get a quality barrel. i just sent my J&T flat-top to be rebarreled with a krieger. the J&T barrel would get copper fouling terribly. if you are going to invest $$, invest in the best (IMHO).

I built my upper using a DPMS 24" stainless with 1/9 twist, one hole shooter. DPMS has good prices on complete uppers including bolt/carrier group and charging handle. A little secret here, if you have a class 03 C&R they will give you dealer pricing (except of course on receivers).
