| After shooting a cousins m4 over the holidays I am left with no choice but to go buy one for myself.I am however in the dark as far as "post-ban"/"pre-ban" law is concerned. Question #1.what are all the pyhsical differences between COLT M4 "pre- ban" uppers & lowers to the "post-ban" ones? #2.what is the differnce between COLT M4 A1,A2 &A3's -and what does it matter when you are building a rifle? #3.If you had a "pre-ban" upper and a "post-ban" lower(with a pre-ban collapsing stock)how could anyone know that the whole thing isn't "pre-ban"? I know these questions are basic but last week was the first time I have ever shot. -thanks for the help! |

Unless you are a collector, pre-ban AR's are over rated (just like Colt magazines!). A pre-ban rifle may have a bayonet lug and a threaded-on flash hider. That's the only difference. Now, if you need to use your rifle as a pointed stick and are going to shoot it at night then look for a pre-ban. Who's going to check if your AR is legal or not? Only the forces that be would do such a thing and they would only do it if they wanted your head on a pole. If the forces that be wanted your head on a pole, it wouldn't matter if your AR was legal or not, your head would be on a pole. |
