I have the full length float tube on my 24 inch dpms upper. How do I remove the free-float tube?

It came loose a few years ago and I used a craftman strap wrench to tighten it down. Now I want to remove it and that plastic wrench simply slides around.

Any ideas?

Give it a couple soft or firm (non-damaging at least) taps (with a rubber or polyurethane hammer) about an inch-and-a-half up from where the tube meets the receiver. This area is where the threads are at.

As far as a tool to actually unscrew it...I just use my hands while I hold the rifle secure with my knees.

I suppose you could wrap cloth/friction tape around it, and THEN try your strap wrench on it. That should give it something to hold on to.

Well! I got the tube off! Forgot that I just blue loctite on it.

However!! After taking the gasport off, I realized the barrel is too fat for the barrel bushing to slide over it!

I was attempting to install a Badger Ordnance handguard on it.
