Is there a $50-60 alternative to the TRL1?
Looking for something that'll survive, but don't need 800+ lumens. This will be going on my railed 1911. |

TLR-1s' go on sale fairly often if you keep an eye out.
Primary arms has them for $99 right now. here That's the 300 lumen model, not the high output HL variant. Honestly, I don't think you can beat them for the price. Buy some $50 light and you're going to wind up replacing it in 6 months anyway because it shit the bed. Besides, you can actually find holsters for these. Some random cheap light - good luck. ETA - if we were talking rifles it's a whole different game, a Surefire G2X handheld in a spare 1" scope ring and you're up and running for 60 bucks. |

Used insight m3 lights can be had for $40-$50 in the EE or eBay. At that price point, those are going to be incandescent bulbs. The output is lower and they eat batteries. There was an OEM LED upgrade (I snagged one) but I do believe they stopped making them. Personally, I like the M-3 mounting system as it's a very quick on and off and secure with no tools whatsoever (including coins). It's what I keep for my carry gun that I run without a light 99% of the time. |

Seriously, OP, the TLR-1 IS the cheaper option (that's readily available). |
