| Hey all! Can anyone tell me what the standard USGI issue light is these days? I can only find old info. Thanks! |

depending on what your unit decides to order anything with an NSN (can also use non NSN items but they are harder to get approved)

Varies not only from service to service, but from unit to unit.
In a very, very general sense, however: Army: Surefire M95x series, the M951XM00 being the most common, but the M952V being the most current Marine Corps: AN/PEQ-16B MIPIM -- integrated IR LAM, illuminator, and white light Air Force: Insight M3X USSOCOM: Insight WMX200 This is more or less current general issue information only, and doesn't cover the huge range of authorized, previously issued, unit, individual, and contingency purchased white lights that are out there and still in the inventory and still used. ~Augee |

I have the M952V and just got rid of the M3x, which was my favorite, but it appears they no longer make them. |

Currently, peq-16. High speed guys can use whatever they feel is necessary, within reason. Usually the unit will pay for everything, so they'll have standardized(ish) equipment. That's only USMC from what I've seen. My unit just got issued Insight M3X's with the dual switch. It replaced my personally purchased M600U (they standardized on the M3X and are no longer allowing personally purchased lights). ETA: Pretty much what Augee said. |
