This has been an issue of intense consideration for me so I wanted to come here and get some opinions before hopefully making an informed decision. Since the completion of my rifle build I have ran the inforce WML-X 500 lumen weapons light on an offset Thorntail mount. See pictures below for further examination. Anyway, the rifle is very well taken care of, including mounted accessories. There is some damage on the picatinny mount on the light itself that I cannot explain and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do or if I must send back. Pictures posted below of damage as well. I don't want to send back and deal with the wait for them to decide if it's defective, then replace, reship etc etc if I can avoid it however IMO this unacceptable especially on a rifle that isn't a hard use battle rifle.  I believe I remember some of the damage just from being continually mounted.  If you're familiar with this model light I believe it would be very difficult for the damage to have been caused by over-tightening due to the tightening method. The rifle has fallen from a standing position 1X on carpet, and 1X on my driveway, both with the light mounted. I thought this company/manufacturer was of good quality. Anyone else have similar experience with inforce lights or this model particularly?  Can anyone suggest a home solution? Is this even something to be concerned with? Or is sending back the best option?

Inforce WMLs are absolute, 100% garbage.  There have been so many reported issues (I've experienced two of the well known issues) with them that I'm not even sure where to start.

Toss that shit in the trash and pick up something (more like anything) else.

The WMLx is, IMHO, the best-designed weapons light currently available. Unfortunately, the polymer is sub-standard, leading to damage w/o any abuse on the owner's part. I had 3 WMLx's crack at the same location where the bezel screws into the body. Inforce is supposedly going to start using a stronger material sometime soon but I wouldn't trust any of the current models.
Send it back for replacement (ask for the new stronger version, you might get lucky and get one of those) then sell the new replacement.

If I worked for Inforce and received that light I would return it back to you. It looks like user damage to me. I have one and never had an issue with it but, as said above, the polymer is subpar.

Fair enough, however as i said, it is absolutely not damage that has been caused by me unless it all happened at once when the rifle fell one of the two times. That's why I an so frustrated. The light was mounted when I purchased it and it has remained so until recently, which has been about a year now. It looks almost as if the polymer is so brittle it chips easily. Maybe when the rifle fell or when it was removed/mounted.  It still mounts without issue and seems to be stable in place.  One of the major selling points for me was the position of the on/off switch with the lumen rating a close second. The led and reflector is also nice. If I have to get rid of the light, does anyone know of another quality light that puts out similar lumens and has that angled activation switch? It really works well with the position of my hand stop as well as the size of my hands in the position that it's in.

Nothing similar that I can think of.  I suppose any other light with a tape switch could somewhat mimick the WML in comparison to a straight clicky tailcap.

IMO, reliability trumps everything else.  What good is the ergonomics of the activation switch if the damn thing cracks in half next time you bump it into something?

Get a light with a aluminum housing. Those Inforce lights have a short life.

this has been going on forever, nothing new. I agree, the ergonomics are great but the overall quality just isn't there. it's a shame.
