I am currently putting together my first bare bones kiss build and was looking for  a lightweight, durable led light. Is there any reason the PolyTac wont hold up to a fair amount of abuse? I have quite a few of the smaller streamlights and flog them on a regular bases but havent put any time in with their plastic models.  Worst case I have a SF Z2 that just flys around with me in my travel backpack that I could mount up and possibly replace with a PolyTac instead. I like the idea of the click on/off switch of the PolyTac vs the push/twist on the z2 but ultimately durability is more vital than the switch. Any input is appreciated.

I have one. It has gone from ARs to AKs and now sits on another AR. My kid has played with it (off of the gun of course). If a 3 year old can't break it, neither can you. Great light, excellent value. Buy with confidence

GTG.  One of my early personally purchased LEDs for work.  It lived on a duty rifle for a year or so and made it thru 3quals and 2 tactical courses.  It's now a great bk up.

The only downside is its lack of aftermarket support.  If you get a Surefire G series for example, you can upgrade or mod it forever.

Sweet, sounds like it'll fit the bill just fine for what I need. I'm not big into modding lights I tend to just buy one that suits my needs for a particular application so no negative there. Thanks for the info!

We use them at work. I work in a aircraft factory.  We beat the shit out of them.  They survive 20 ft drops
on a regular basis.  I picked up a TL-2 for personal use and it's a great light. Pretty much the same but with
a aluminum body.  I found it new on eBay for $30.  I'm very happy with it.  Plus streamlight sells a tail cap for it
with a wired momentary switch.

I might have to look around for a deal like that. The reason for my initial interest was PSA having them for 30$ asopposed to the $60 average on a g2 with clicky cap

The polytac is good to go, but for $49 you can get a Surefire G2X Tactical delivered (online at B&H Photo Video).

I've used one for 2 years, both on my fire helmet and as a backup light for my real job. Don't use it too much, but it's survived some knocks and I have yet to change the batteries. Suffice to say that I really like it.

I've got about 4-5 of them. Some have been installed on AKs and ARs, but most are now handhelds... nothing wrong with them and they survived the rifles just fine, but I changed out for dedicated lights instead.

I love the Polytacs, they work great and I've never had a problem with them.

Bought one about two weeks ago, mounted on it on an AR, went to the range for some fun.  Had to pull the batteries out of the Polytac because the clicky switch was stuck in the  "ON" position.  Messed with the spring and thought I had it fixed but still had problems with the light flickering when the rifle was fired.  The light is now on the way back to Streamlight for warranty work.  That said, I love the light!  Its light, bright and cheap, I just won't put it on a weapon.  I will pick up a few more to replace other LED flashlights I have in the boat, truck, tool kit etc.

I had one for some time before it got lost.  Was a great light, w/ no complaints.  I seem to recall the beam having a bit of a cool/bluish tint, at least cooler than my 6p LED, but nothing worth getting in a twist about.

I ended up picking up 2 on sale from Midway on a bulk order a weekish ago. Going to put one on a HD mossy500 and one on a KISS dissapator. Hopefully a few range outings will not yield any issues. I think I may actually mount my z2 on the 12ga just to keep the recoil from becoming an issue since it usually just sits in my daily bag. Anyone have a decent deal link for a clicky cap for a surefire z2?
