Any decent mounts out there that make it simple to remove light so I can use it when I'm not using my rifle?  As I'm just an occasional shooter and have another hd gun I would like to make use out if a $100-200 flashlight when not on rifle.  The flashlight I'm going to need the mount for will more than likely be surefire p2x or stream light protac hl.  Thanks.

Just to be clear you are looking to release the light from the mount quickly not the mount from the gun quickly?

That is correct.  Basically, when I come home from shooting I would like the quickest way to be able to clean me ar, put it in its case and away, and remove flashlight so I can have it readily accessible.

You will have more choices if you leave the light in the mount and remove the mount from the rifle.  I do exactly that with the Surefire M79 mount.  I have it on the Magpul rail light mount which stays on my rifle but the mount and light are removed.

This is a great suggestion.  Another good one is the VLTOR mount.  You can remove the mount and the light quickly without tools, and it can be had for about $35 if you shop around.

Thanks for the quick responses.  I thought I had my mind made up on thee surefire p2x fury defender.  I know a lot of you guys prefer the single output of just the 500 lumen output for a weapon light, but as I will be using it for other options my mind has quickly been put back on frantic research mode, again.  I need one that has a memory setting that will still always turn to the highest setting on the first click, but still have different selections of output to choose from.  Thanks

Since you have the same intended purpose for your weapon light, what do you use?

Think I've got it narrowed to tk11 or protac hl

This is the 6PX Tactical.

Is surefire really worth the $20 more for half the lumens of the stream light protac?  I know you guys disagree with the different modes on the flashlights.  But the protac is programmable to 3 different settings.  On of which is "hi on/off".  So with that option being available I don't see a problem if I needed to turn the light on and them off real quick and getting the brightest setting.  One programmable setting is "hi/strobe/lo". Let me know what you guys think.

Sometimes a light can be too bright.  In a small room, my 360 lumens can flash blind me when it hits a light colored wall.

Just something else to think about.
