Ive got a streamlight tlr1 hl for close in stuff on my 14.5 but Im looking for a light to put on my 300blk for spotlighting hogs out in the field. So far it seems like the 500 lumen surefire m600u is probably the best to fit the bill. How does it compare to the 600 lumen tlr1 hl? Im looking for more of a pencil beam that I can get some distance out of. Theres just so many options out there its hard to make sure Im making the right decision.

Since this is for hogs, weight, etc. and rail footprint are probably secondary to output and runtime. I would go with the 3-cell Elzetta with TIR. It will produce tons of the kind of light you want, and double as a killer hand held. Recoil won't bother it in the least.

What distance are you looking shooting at? Anything past 200 meters I would look into getting the Dereelight Nightmaster V2. It is an aspheric lens and has NO spill whatsoever, giving you a  ~220 lumen concentrated beam.

It has an XR-E EZ900 pill at 1.5A on multiple cells. It is an absolute thrower. Sites have it listed having at 90kcd, however, there have been tests that reach 105kcd. This translates into 600-648 meters of throw.

To put things in perspective, the Olight M3X Triton XM-L2 at 1000 ANSI has a max distance of 580 meters with a larger LED at higher output, in a larger light.

This light is not for everyone. As I said earlier, it is an aspheric lens light. The beam profile will be a square shape of the emitter die. Also, there is no spill, so your peripheral vision is impaired. Lastly, I wouldn't suggest shooting targets within CQB distances as the beam is so concentrated, it will be difficult to track moving targets.

ive spotlighted 100+ yards with a tlr1HL.  worked just fine.  the tlr1HP is a much tighter beam and will throw 200+.  like said, how far are you trying to shoot?

What he said. The mating of aspheric lighting with a scope for night shooting at a distance is a fantastic idea. It should light up your FOV at a distance without disturbing anything else.

Man youre speaking Greek to me. Thanks for the very technical and indepth response.

Im shooting out to 300ish yards, rarely 400. With that said they can be as close as 30-40 yds so I need a light that has a little spill in case one gets mad and charges me. Luckily Ive never had that happen at night but have had it happen during the day. One of the many reasons I switched to an AR from a bolt gun for hog hunting.

Run time isn't a huge deal as I turn the light on scan the field then go to the next one so Im not running it for hours on end. Ive also got a bunch of rechargeable 123As so id like to stay with a platform that uses those if possible but not absolutely necessary.
