I'm interested in upgrading/converting my E1E to LED. I'm not sure where to start. I've seen Surefire conversion heads, but they are a bit pricey. What other options do I have?

There are a few direct replacement heads around but you might want to consider an E2C type adapter such as the ones made by Vital Gear or TnC and Surefire which are both available from Oveready. With an adapter you can use any P60 bezel / dropin combo that will match your batteries and intended usage opening you up to a huge variety of LED's, multi-mode drivers, optics or reflectors, bezel styles, etc. You could also go with a Valiant Concepts VME head and a Malkoff M31 (or M61 if you are using LiCoO2 batteries,) of your choosing.

I have an E1E body and tailcap with a Valient Concepts VME head and a Malkoff M31W.  Its a great light - very bright and runs for a long time.

I sent a email to them  about some question I had about the Fury and  had a few complaints also.

I told them I've been trying to stay loyal. fan since the get go.

I was bitching about the E1e BTW my Favorite light.

I bought the upgrade 45Lumen head several years ago.

Then they turn around and made the back up  E1B 110 lumen

Then turn around and upgrade it to  200lumen

Still no upgrade for the E1e besides the old head.

I like to see a long run time with 60lumen . ( I don't care about high lumen's. just want a long run time. I save my high lumen for my Tactical lights.)

More or less the same specs as the E2 Outdoorsman.

I also bought a Gen 2  E2 Defender  I think its a 100lumem/3 . Then less than a year later they came out with the Gen 3 200 lumen E2 defender.

The Surefire guy sent me a coupon for 40% off. like that's helps  there lights are full ;price at there website.

The SF guy said there will be conversion heads later on.

Have you looked at the Malkoff M31LL in a VME bezel? It should give you the 60 lumens out the front for hours and hours just like the E2L Outdoorsman but in a smaller package and for considerably less.
