Some dogs got into my herd last night, balancing my near dead 4-cell mag-light and my xd proved fruitless.  I'm not into the tacti-cool stuff so need suggestions for a good light(s) to use on a mossy 500, marlin 1894, M4, and hand-held, even possibly all four.  I'd settle with a duct-tape mount until better mounting arrives but I need the light for tonight when I'm sure they'll be back.  Only stores nearby are Cabela's, Ace, Walmart...  Suggestions, I'm fed up with my mags so I might as well get into the good stuff now.  The thought of a strobing light combined with a laser has me drooling of the vengance I could wreak.
Thanks

without knowing what those stores stock its impossible to say.  i dont think you are going to find anything good at walmart, i cant recall ever seeing anything bright there.  cabelas should have something.  havent ever looked at ace but i know home depot has stocked some pretty bright lights in the 200 lumen range.

cabelas website shows a bunch of streamlights and led lensers which are decent lights.  if a 4d maglite was working for you brightness wise, anything in the 100-200 lumen range should be fine for you, get something that runs on 2x cr123 batteries and has a 1 inch body diameter (something like the streamlight polytac on cabelas website), you can use some cheap 1" scope rings to mount it to a rifle or shotgun for tonight and order some mounts and what not later.  your options are usually limited when you have to buy locally RIGHT NOW.

Surefire FURY (EAG model) is 500 lumens for $120 from BCM.  Throw in a VTAC mount for $25 and you're ready to rock.  You'll have it by the weekend...maybe.

Thanks all,
As usual, impulse buys from town aren't usually very good; slim pickins.  Couldn't find a clamp-on or even rail mount light for the shotty.  Only light with a clamp was a small 20 lumen pistol off-brand with weaver clamp but heck, for $20, I bought it.  I got a Streamlight, Scorpion X;  200 lumens, 7/8" dia., about 6" long; fits really nice duct taped to the front of the forearm on the pump shotty.  There were a couple lasers available but off named, pricey and big.  So this'll have to work until I can upgrade and get mounting.  Talked around the neighborhood and it turns out, 1 mile away a neighbor lost 9 lambs and 4 maimed just a week ago, and a few of the neighbors know where the dogs are coming from (about 3 miles away).  So I re-arrainged our barn cameras and with luck, these dogs won't be harrassing stock for much longer.

thats a bitch.  we had a problem with rabid dogs on the deerlease i hunt at years back.  roughly a dozen [we assume]strays had banded together and formed their own little posse.  lots of calf (cow) carcasses started appearing.  a couple rifles and one lucky night 7 of them were down for the count and the problem went away.  hope you do some damage.  if you get some good footage off those barn cameras make sure to upload them :-).
