Haven't decided on a flashlight yet.

What I want is a mount that will put the flashlight a little further forward than most mounts.  Going on my 12.5" SBR, only a 7" rail and I'm trying to minimize the shadow from the barrel.

They have one for SBRs, but it's for weapons with 2" or less of barrel in front of the rail.  Sounds like you need the standard version.

Just went through this myself on a pistol build (eventual SBR.) I have a 7" Noveske NSR rail on my soon to be 7.75" BCM chrome lined 9mm barrel. On that, a Vortex flash suppressor. So you can imagine only the flash suppressor will be visible poking out from the rail.

My issue was mounting a weapon light. Price Wasn't important. I ended up going with a X300 Ultra in a 12 o'clock position. The trouble was when mounting at the front of a 7" rail, it pushed the activation switches too far to the rear to be effective. My solution was to get a Mossie Tactical mount that attaches to a Troy Industries BUIS. Another problem arose, this mount pushes the light 4 inches ahead of the rail. So I opted to get the hacksaw out and some files. I chopped the 7" rail back so the front sight could be mounted further to the rear. This pulled the light back about 2.5" and positioned the activation switches in an accessible location. Only about 2" of the light pokes out past the rail, which will match up with my barrel when it returns from ADCO.

Another advantage of this setup is that the Mossie Tactical rail lowers the light so it doesn't obstruct your sight plain, even with the slightly larger X300 Ultra. Sadly, an X400 still obstructs the sight picture.

The entire package is streamlined and doesn't create excessive bulk. My cuts to the rail removed .6 ounces of weight. The aluminum is extremely easy to cut and shape with basic hand tools. I spent about 2 hours taking my time. The cut areas refinish nicely with Alumablack.

Here's a picture of the setup:

Depending on what kind of light, the LaRue LT752 will also push it forward.

ELZETTA makes one of the best tactical lights out there. I love mine and their 1500 mount is on most of my AR's. Barrel shadow has never been a factor to me. YMMV?
