I do a lot of long range night shooting when hunting hogs so I want the brightest light possible. I won't be doing anything tactical indoors or have to worry about blinding myself at night. What do you think about mounting one of these up to a rail? Is it a terrible idea since its not advertised as a weapon light? I would like to stay with surefire if you have any alternatives to mention.
Thanks,

]I sent Surefire an email asking this. I was wondering about the same thing.

Used a GG&G 1" light mount. I have not taken it out and fired the weapon with it attached yet.

Many thanks for the reply, I've been curious about this for a while and asked a while back with no response. It looks like you justified my picking up the new model sure fire put out.
Is that the stock cap it comes with or did you buy one of the other ones from surefire?

Tail cap is factory M3LT. push for momentary and twist for on. Works well at the position I have it at.

Do you have the mount over the rubber combat grip ( I believe thats whats surefire calls it). I was wondering if I could get away with a smaller diameter mount if I were to just move it up the flashlight body.
Do you happen to know a rough estimate of the diameter of the middle section of the light body? (The middle as in the part where the sure fire logo and model are printed)

Thanks again,

Looks like the same exact head as the M962LT so I'd say it's g2g on a weapon.

The KX9T will screw onto a current M961. The problem is getting the KX9T head off the body which is loctited.

The problem I see there could be will more likely be with the two-stage push button pressure switch TailCap. It uses leaf-spring contacts which may not respond well to life under recoil forces.
If one leaf-spring fails, it'll be a warning so I suggest you watch out for it. If any more fail the light will either become unreliable or fail to function.

Something to consider. I may see if I can get a different switch for it.
