I have the opportunity to get a SF X200A in the near future for a pretty good deal. I have a couple of questions:
Can I switch the head to an X300 head, or the newer high output X300 heads? How does the throw/brightness compare to the M300A Scout (which I have)? Would it be suitable for a home defense carbine light? I read somewhere that holsters that work with the X300 will work with this as well. Is this true? Any other information regarding this light would be greatly appreciated. |
| The X200A will have to remain what it is...no way to switch heads. I can't comment on a comparison to the 300A Scout, but when the X300 came out, I gave my 200 to a friend and have never looked back. I am not a big TLR-1 fan but I'd get one of them before an X200 for my own uses. The X200 will fit any holster for a mounted X300. It will also take any of the same DG switches. |

The X200A is dim compared to the X300 and TLR1. It will fit holsters for the X300. It cannot be upgraded with X300 head according to Surefire. It will work fine on a pistol or carbine for home defense, it's a good light. I and others at my PD used the X200 on our patrol rifles until the X300 became available, some on our SRT still use the X200A and B for entry work on their Commandos. I still use the X200A on my duty pistol and feel no pressing need to replace it. |
