just looking for some feedback on this light.. played with on at Gander the other day and I like that it has 3 light settings.
My job requires me to go in and out of bars and clubs all day and a light with alot of power upsets some of the patrons and just draws to much attention, however at the same time id like to have a light with the ability to put out a more powerfull beam if something were to go wrong while on my way home or to just use around the house as a general use light. I have other surefires and like them alot [a 6P and G2] but they are two bright for work and already have other spacific jobs for each light. anyone have one ? any issues ? run time as advertised ? |

Have you considered the G2X Pro or 6PX Pro? They have two light levels (hi and low is more practical, nobody ever needs a medium level). They are cheaper than the Stratum, and just as high quality backed up by SureFire's legendary customer service. No I hadn't heard of or seen those models before...i'll be sure to look into them now though, sounds like what im looking for exactly. thanks for the tip |

I may be wrong but i noticed the streamlights seem to switch to low light first and full light second, whcih i perfer..not sure if the streamlight also does this |

They have a pretty low, low setting, and because of the TIR lens, there are few wasted lumens as everything is pretty well concentrated. You may want to look at the LX2 from surefire too. It is low/high 2-mode. Low is 30L, and high is 200+L (more like 230L). The way this light operates is to push lightly for low, and press hard for hi. You can also turn the endcap slightly for low, twist more for hi. Where it is really useful, is that you can turn the knob for low mode, but push the endcap for a quick blast to hi any time it is twisted to constant-low. This works perfect for when I'm out jogging. Low is great for seeing the road, but if a car comes, I push the button to make myself seen. |

I like it, very compact, and very bright. I don't care for the strobe, and you have to cycle through high then strobe before you get low mode. No big deal but the srobe is unnecessary. I recommend one for an EDC light but for day in day out use SureFire will be more durable. The LX2 is also a very nice light, though very focused so I recommend using a diffuser that SureFire sells to go over the lens, but this makes for a more versatile light. |

thanks for all the info.. I think 30L may be alittle to bright though and going through high and then strobe before getting to dim im sure would drive both myself and
the folks in the establishment crazy lol the PT-2l does seem like a nice little light at a great price though...i may pick it up along with a g2x/6px pro just to have around the house with the rest of the lights lol i'll find a use for it later.....wait, nope...grab bag light....aha ! that should be enough to explain it to the fiancee
thanks for the help guys ! sounds like i have some shopping to keep me busy today |
