I know this not the ideal set-up but for now looking for a light laser combo for my Glock 23, 92FS M9A1 and my AR.
Looks like the Streamlight is interchangable, but not sure about the other brands? The Insight book shows different applications for pistol and long gun. Anyone have any experience with these or suggestons for another model? |

I have experience with all 3 brands, the light only models (no lasers).
My agency has about 200 Streamlight TLR-1's purchased in '07. We've sent about 12-15 back to Streamlight per year due to LED failures - unacceptable for an LE light. Luckily, Streamlight has great CS and the repaired units have the new C4 LED. Another weak point is the mounting screw for the TLR - it regularly comes loose. My duty pistol has an Insight WX150 on for the last two years with the "warm"tint LED (I think only the "cool" tint is produced now). Great light, but no ability to mount a tape switch for long gun use. I have two Surefire X200's on my house guns, which are the forerunner to the X300's. I've used the lights in a few combat courses and they are great -you can also add a tape switch adapter for longgun use. Surefires are my first choice. A sight sponser here, Brightflashlights, has good prices on them. |

I've got an Insight M3 on my AR that I can take off and put on my Glock if I want. Pretty good light, not super bright. Of course, for HD/indoors, you don't want a super bright light, or else you'll blind yourself due to reflection off walls.
I've heard and seen good things about the Surefire X300. I'm thinking about picking one up at some point. As far as lasers go, I don't have much experience. |
