I took this in trade a while back.  It was presented to me as a battery extended for a SureFire 6P.  It fits a SureFire light perfectly but it's to long for 3 batteries and to short for 4 batteries.  ANybody know what the hell it's for?

With 3 batteries installed..

On the light...

IIRC Surefire offered a rechargable upgrade kit for the 6P (mid 90's when I got my 6P).  Might be the extension to fit the rechargable battery.

It might also be the Solarforce brand extender used for rechargeable 18650 batteries on either Solarforce or Surefire 6P/G2 lights.

I konw the picture looks slightly different, but the design may have changed slightly since you picked up yours.

Probably this.  Allows the 6P to accept the rechargeable B65 battery.

Looks like a Surefire A14 adapter. It allowed a 6P sized light to convert to 6R (rechargable) and run the Surefire B65 NiCad Battery.

ETA: Here is a link to the battery, though it looks as if it has been discontinued.

Yes, the B65 (and other Surefire NiCads) are discontinued. There are harder, but not impossible to find new now.

I'd say it's the A14 adapter and completely useless to me.
Thanks for the replies.

Can you place a clicky tailcap on one end and a "E" series bezzle on the other and build a 1 cell scout light?

No, E-series threads and diameter are different.  Plus this extender is longer than a CR123.

About a thousand years ago I converted an old Surefire rechargeable handheld into a weapon light. It ran a B65 battery and used that same A14 extender:

Eventually I removed the extender and just ran two 123 batteries, since the B65 couldn't hold a charge for very long.
