I see that the newer G2 LED models are rated for 120 lumens and 2 hours of runtime.  Anybody know the battery life of the older 80 lumen models?

I want to say it's 3 hours.

It's 4 hours, but it's only 80 lumens for roughly 5 minutes then the thermal regulation kicks in and knocks it down to a steady 50-60 lumens for the remaining runtime.  After the initial 4 hours it slowly dims to useless levels in less than 2 hours.

The thermal regulation only kicks on if you leave it on for 5+ minutes.

If you are using it on a firearm, you are typically pushing it on for less than a second at a time.  Even in thermal regulation it is pretty decent.  around 60L + or -

The 120L is the G2X, and is probably brighter than 120L.  For the price difference, I would grab the newer light.  It is better across the board and is going to go up in price at the end of next month by about 50%.

Most specs I've seen for 80L models say 12 hours of runtime.  Unfortunately I don't know what the lumens output is at the end of that timeframe.  You might go over to the candlepower forums and someone's bound to have done a runtime test.

Few seconds on Google found this thread on CPF:

That test uses a 6P and a G2 with the P60L.  The G2L has an aluminum bezel with nitrolon body, it dissipates heat better than the all nitrolon G2 but not as good as the aluminum bodied 6P.  The G2L's tested runtime is what I posted above, 4 hours.  Surefires stated runtime of 12 hours is until there is no light at all.  After a total of 6 hours the light is pretty much useless.

I believe the G2X is 200 lumens.  The G2LED is 120 lumens.
