I am looking for a SureFire 6P style flashlight that is powered by AA batterie(s) and used an LED lamp. Something that can be mounted to a rail via a 1" or 30mm clamp device. Also, I would prefer the material to be some sort of alloy. Any suggestions?

I have a Fenix LD15 and have been very impressed with it so far.   It runs on one AA battery and is pretty damn bright for it's size.

How durable is it?

This one isn't 1" in diameter, but it meets all the other criteria:

check with LaRue for a mount to fit AA sized lights that aren't 1" in diameter. I carry a Fenix E20 at work, and it has served me well for about a year now.

I like my TerraLux 220. Less than 30 bucks off of the net.

Alloy body, very durable, uses AA batteries and has 2 settings, 220 lux & 100 lux.

It is a little bit smaller than 1" though.

It seems to be built very well.  It comes with extra o-rings for waterproofing.  I would put it on par with my 6P.  It's not nearly as large though.

I use a Fenix LD20 for duty, and a LD10 for EDC.  No complaints here.

Fenix TK20. Takes 2xAA's and a slight twist of the bezel switches between 45 & 150 lumens. Has a warmer tint LED for better color rendition (surprisingly important, based upon my own tests), I even keep one on my nightstand. I wasn't sure if I liked the textured rubber coating over the aluminum battery tube but even after a couple of carbine classes the TK20 hasn't shifted or rotated (I made sure to firmly tighten down in the mount w/a few strips of Gorilla Tape around the light just to be sure).

Any reason you are ruling out CR123 batteries for a weapon light? I know AA are more readily available, but the price of a lithium AA is pretty close to a lithium CR123. You also end up with more power (mWh) out of the CR123 and a shorter overall package.
