There are three versions of the M720 series light posted above. The standard model is a 200 lumen light at about 6 ounces. It uses a 1.5" TIR reflector. The M720V is a variable light. It switches between visible light and infrared light at 150 lumens. The M720L is a 350 lumen output light that has a run-time of 1.5 hours!
The negative aspect I found about the unit is the height size. It is exactly 1.8" tall. To give reference, the X300 is 1.5" tall and the X400 is 1.87" tall. What this means is it will not work well mounted at the 12 o'clock position on your typical AR/M4 platform. Another negative issue is it is primarily activated by a tape switch. There is a button switch on the top of the unit, but it is not placed where you can actively press it in a momentary fashion. This is a huge failure IMO. I really hope this is addressed before its release. I would upgrade to the M720L from my X300 on my MRP Piston upper if the activation options are addressed. I have no direct estimates of how much they will cost, but I would guess they will be in the 450 - 600 dollar price range. Yep, in the butt... The LX1 is not as bright as everyone interprets. When you imagine 110 lumens, you are thinking it will be on par with the X300/X400 series right? Not anymore. Due to the re-rating of the products, this light will be significantly dimmer than you are expecting. The X300/X400 are now 170 lumens. The same can be said for the mini-Scout M300A. It is also rated at the 110 lumens while the standard sized Scout M600C is now rated at 200 lumens. Basically, if you bought a newer Surefire light like the LX2 that is rated at 200 lumens, what you're really getting is last years 120 lumens. Another big one that is finally coming out is the M3LT & M3LT-S Combat Light. This is a 400 lumen monster that takes 3 123a batteries. It was revised significantly from last years mention. It now has a 2.5" TIR reflector. This is a big light. That size reflector will put that beam out quite a distance. The M3LT-S is the same light, but with a strobe function. A 400 lumen strobe will melt someones face like the Nazi on "The Raiders of the Lost Ark." A similar light named the UB3T Invictus is also planned. It is similar in size, but has a variable output ring so you can modulate from 2 lumens to 400. These three weigh in at nearly 12 ounces. Surefire finally quit dicking the dog on the dedicated shotgun fore-ends. They're adding the M600C Scout light head assembly to the unit. So they're going to be 200 lumens finally and have a TIR reflector. They'll have the 1 cell and 2 cell models. Basically 100 lumens and 200 lumen option. 1.4 hour run-time on the 1 cell, and 2 hour run-time on the 2 cell unit. These will be referred to the LM models. These are the biggest enhancements at least. |

Quoted: Quoted: Thanks for the info. That mounted light looks cool, but tapeswitch only is a fuck up it's not tape only, take a closer look. Another negative issue is it is primarily activated by a tape switch. There is a button switch on the top of the unit, but it is not placed where you can actively press it in a momentary fashion. I can't tell from that picture, I was just going by the quote above. |

I would assume a rifle, because that is one monster of a light to throw on a pistol |
