I have a surefire 6p that I added a malkoff device to.  I tried to turn it on and it would not work when depressing the tailcap nor when I turned it so it would be continuously on.  I let it sit for a while then tried again and it worked fine.  The batteries are relatively new so I do not think that it the problem.  I have it attached to my rifle with a larue mount.  Has anyone here experienced a similar problem or know what could be causing this?  Thanks.

Check the connections, and do you have to use the metal "ring" Gene sells so it will make contact?

I do not think so. As far as I can tell the 6p is not a shock absorbing flashlight which requires the metal ring.  Is it possible for the connections to get knocked out of whack for a second and then go back into place without me doing anything?

The first thing to do is replace the used batteries with a pair of new SF123A batteries.

Is the SureFire a standard 6P?

Change the batteries anyway to rule them out as the problem since it's the easiest thing to do on the troubleshooting list.
