How many of you have the 6P LED on you AR? Have you had any problems?

Dont know if its just my luck but this is the second Surefire to crap out on my weapon.
First one was the G3 LED which made sense because it had 3 batteries in it.
Now my 6P LED is no longer working after a trip to the range, shot about 300 rnds.

Swaping parts with my G3 LED i found that its the LED assembly that went bad.
Am i just having bad luck or what?

I have not had a issue with a 6P on a weapon but thats why Surefire charges a whole lot more for their weapon lights there bulbs are tested to handle the pressure of I beleave 10,000rds and a 6P  has no rating.

I've used my 6P LED on my 16" midlength and my 870, only 30 and 7 rds respectively to test it. No issues here.

about 1000 rounds in a low-light carbine class... my 6p(led) survived... It has been on there since I switched to Fenix lights for handheld use =)

That is unusual...SF will make it good, of course, but I have had several 6Ps and never had an issue with any of them, including the LED models. In fact, I just this morning  built up a new 6P with a Malkoff LED for a friend...helluva light!

You may want to consider upgrading your LED module with a 235-Lumen Malkoff M60 LED Module.  This is the same Module that is used in our new Elzetta ZFL-M60 Tactical Lights.

All electrical components are fully potted to prevent failure under the most severe recoil or impact.

Like everything we sell, the Malkoff M60 is Made in the USA and built to last.

Available here for $55.00.

If Surefire doesn't make it right ( they should ) then it was probably a solder joint that went bad. You can fix it (if you're good w/ soldering) or send it off to get fixed.

Im sure they'll take care of me again. I bought a shock isolated bezel so hopefully that will work.

I'm sorry for the hijack, but I got a question.

I recently wanted to get a couple of LED conversion lamps for my G2, and 6P.  I couldn't for the life of me remember your companies name.  I did a few searchs in the EE and came up with TNVC.  They also had a conversion unit.  So I bought one of theirs.

How does your 235 Lumen LED unit compare to the one TNVC sold me.  They say theirs is rated at 235 lumens as well.  Just from the pictures yours seems a lot more robust.

If you would rather send me an IM, I understand.

Thanks,
DBAR

Last I saw, I think Victor was claiming 195 OTF lumens from the TNVC module. The run-time is also proportionately longer.
The tint of the one I had was very similar to Malkoff.
The beam-pattern on the Malkoff has more spill up close as it uses an optic and the TNVC uses a reflector.
Changes the appearance of the beam as well. The Malkoff beam kindof blends from hot-spot to spill, while the TNVC has more "pronounced" transitions.
They are very different animals almost to the point that it is not apples to apples imho.
People tend to polarize around either the TNVC module or the Malkoff module and they both have very fiercly loyal fans. I recommend buying the Malkoff and trying out both of them, see which one you like, and sell the one you use least.
