i recently got a surfire m951 (i think thats the model).  its a scout light with a tape switch and a double thumb screw mount.  any way I got this light for $90.  Did i do good?  what is the best way to mount this light?  I have a carbine length rail.  When i mount it as far forward as possible it takes too much room on the hand guards to hold the rifle.  I do not like to use a vfg.  did I get the wrong light for me?  your input is appreciated. thanks

The M95 is a Millennium Universal WeaponLight.
SureFire's ScoutLights are M600A/M600B/M600C and are obviously more compact and lightweight.

If it's a genuine SureFire you did well for $90!

Congrats, if it's a real Surefire M951 you stole it for the price you paid for it.

One way is to mount it on a FSB rail mount (4 to 5 position rail) like the MI (model MCTAR-01) or GG&G SLiC Thing light mount, see below for links.

The other more expensive way is to get a longer extended handguard rail to have more area for your hand.

I also have a similar Surefire M951C light as yours except mine have a push button tail switch, don't have a tape switch, I don't prefer the wire because they're a hassle for me, plus I use a KAC VFG on my carbine length rail.
