I started using a plastic LED Surfire and a SF ring mount when I got tired of lugging around the 951 that was on my rifle.  I found the tailcap in a parts box so it was free.  Seems solid enough and lights a room as well as the 951 did.
Anyone else use this?

only been using this set up for that last few years.... minus the tape switch. I don't like them...to easy to break and to easy to have a white light ND.

What do you put back there....the click on tailcap like the 6P LED has?

I know it is more costly but I use a scout light, they are small 100+ lumins and dont weigh much

I run a Z48 tail cap. Spring loaded for momentary on or click all the way to keep it on... With a 80 Lumen LED lamp or one of the after market CREE type lamps, it gives you more then enough light.I think the plastic Nitrolon body does a good job of taking shock.

And there inexpensive so I can outfit both my AR's with them

Thank you.  I have a 6P LED Defender and like the tailcap switch it has and will look into this.

As for the Scout.  Like I said I had a nice new 951Kit 2 that did everything but was too heavy.  Sold it and have about $75 in this current set up.  Came down to money v/s what I needed.  I only needed the light for those things that go "bump" in the night and this serves well for that.  I am no longer in Iraq so the chance of a IED that my light needs to survive is very low here so all in all this SF setup has been doing the job well.
