Weighs nothing
Does everything
Comes in/can get a LaRue mount for it.

I'm signed up for a MagPul class this summer and I need a weapon mounted light and a handheld.
I'll take suggestions for both.
I do want an LT mount but I don't expect the light to weigh nothin'... but doing everything, or most everything would be great!
I prefer led's for longer run times and durability.

Thanks!

I've become a big fan of the Surefire Scout with the tailcap lately.  Nice throw for a carbine, no weight, good battery life with the LED head. Lots of mounts available for them.  (Including LT)

Might I suggest a TLR-1. It's small, ultra-bright (135 lumens) and weighs next to nothing. No LT mount, but it's solid.

It will double as a pistol light if you have a railed gun, but the easy answer it to buy two. They can be found for less than $80 here.

I'll post some pics later tonight if some one doesn't do it first.

I second the Surefire Scout.

This one went to class, and never missed a beat. There is no LaRue mount, this is the surefire directional mount.

A lot of egay searching and you can find one for a reasonable cost.

Sell the KL4 and pay another $50 to upgrade to the KX2C. I promise you will thank me (unless you only do room clearing/less than 20'). I have ahd both, and the KL4 is like a 6PLED. Weak. The KX2C is amazing in comparison.

Surefire Scout in a Larue Mount. Can't go wrong with it.

Or the X300 in a Larue Mount for a less expensive alternative.

So if by "does everything" you mean both Nav and Full power fuctions the closest I have found is the upgraded Gladius in a Larue mount and a seperate light for handheld.  I set the rifle mounted light to start at lowest level on constant on for nav function but I can quickly switch to strobe or full power temporary switching.  I use it in a Larue offset mount.  I used a Safariland pepper spray caniser for my belt side light and put a small piece of open cell foam at the bottom to stop rattle for my duty belt. There were no LE duty rig type set ups I liked but there are plenty of Nylon mil type pouches out there.  Nice thing is you can have two lights that are the same thing and have the same funtions.  Negative is it is not as light as the Scout or E2D (handheld version of Scout) by about an once and it has no tape switch options (but I dont like tape switches).

Features

High power suitable for 75+ yards temporary on
Low power less than 10 lumens and any variable level in between for constant on
Strobe temporary on
Low battery indicator
Full regulation
Polarity protection
Waterproof/Shockproof
Good beam pattern
Great for all handheld pistol techniques with the flanges
Lock out tail cap

The switching looks complicated but it is super easy and intuative and works well for a right hander at4:30 inan offset larue with a VFG or 10:30 for a thumbs high VFG or without a VFG for thumb activation and I have no problems changing settings easily other than when I need to return it to lockout, which takes a bit of concentration to make sure you dont bump it into constant on mode as you must hold the tail switch half way and rotate to lock out.

While mine looks beat up in the pic I have beat it up even worse now.  The first batch had faulty tail caps and they upgraded mine when it failed.  Its been flawless for the last couple years since then.  100% reccomend this light.

It has always concerned me that an impact/recoil/whatnot could change the output setting. Otherwise, the E2DL would be great.

I have read several reports of that, thus why I stick with the Gladius... the magnetic switching and longer thumb button throw is very reliable.

After sending my PM, I did my own research. Even with the 160L upgrade, the Gladius produces 3,600 lux at 1 meter, while the KX2C equipped M600 or E2DL produces nearly double that, at 6700 Lux at 1m. This equates to a huge difference in throw. Since my weapon is more out-doors, longer distance oriented, the KX2C makes more sense for me.

I can't justify spending almost 500 dollars just on a light for my rifle , I'm jealous of you guys

$500? I know where you can get an LNIB M600C for roughly 3/5 of that...I don't think anyone pays MSRP.

Well, I say stick with a Surefire G2L and get a VTac mount for it. Under $100 and pretty solid.

If you really need a removeable light on your forearm, LaRue makes some rather good mounts that will work with just about anything for around $150.

Also, throw in the upgraded push button tailcap for the G2L...

I'm trying to decide between doing that and just "crying once" and getting the L4....

I just bought Victor's TLC drop in lamp and tail cap and placed it on a G2..  Pretty damn sweet.  5 levels of intensity, and a button to shoot full power of 200+ lumens.
