| can't decide which one.....It looks liket the offset will put the light at about 10:30 just above the bore axis and the inline puts it right at 9:00 even with the rail? Can anyone recommend either set up? I do run a stubby VFG using weak hand pistol grip (thumb forward), that way I can click the light on and off with my left thumb. |

If you rest your rifle on things, get the in-line, if you don't, get the off-set. Just my .02 |

Thanks ya'll....looks like it'll be the offset mount for me.
Also, been looking at surefire lights on their website.....and for the life of me can't figure out the spec differences between the E2D LED Defender and the Scout lights, other than the scouts come with tapeswitches and mounting hardware. Anyone else know the difference between them? |

IMHO the $20 VTAC light mount puts the light in the sweet spot at 10 o'clock, nice and tight to the rail. It does a much better job of being light weight and low profile than either of the LaRue mounts. The only downside is no QD, but since you can get 4-5 of them for the price of 1 LaRue mount......get 1 for each upper.
The Surefire G2LED is an inexpensive light that works for 99% of us. They can be had for $60-75. My optic mounts are all LaRue, but I have not been impressed by their light offerings. |

i just put the E2D-LED on my rifle...
it goes straight to high output momentary and click on... if you want low output you have to tap or click on, then turn off, and tap or click on again... it is in one of the LT-707 inline mounts... i have moved it to the 9 o'clock position, which is pretty comfortable so far, i am extremely impressed with the beam quality and throw i have a pentagon MS3 light (9v 135lumen) and aside from a small hotspot (1" at 20feet) the E2D-LED outshines it, the throws are pretty comparable... the E2D gets the edge for size, weight, less batteries, and a better switch... |

Here are a few pics of the VLTOR scout mount with a G2L. This is mounted on a Winchester 1300 Defender shotgun, but is a good example of a simple, sturdy, low profile mount.

If the rail's out of spec, it may not hold firmly (but mine have all been good) It takes pretty good tightness to keep the G2 from slipping, which makes it hard to remove the thumbscrew by hand. I also have one on an E series light, and it's also very good, but that light requires the remote tailcap to be removed to take out of the mount.

I wouldn't go with any multi mode/stage lights on a weapon, there are many reasons for this but primarily it has to do with durability and inadvertent switching of mode/stage. That's why I'm glad SF and VTAC came out with the L4, which is basically a single stage E2LED with a KX2C head and Scout clicky tail end. The VTAC L4 is definitely worth the money over the G2LED due to the tail switch and better head (LED and TIR lens) that would cost you just as much to upgrade on a G2LED. I do love the E2DLED for daily carry and general use as that low stage is great for most situation. But I wouldn't trust it on a weapon as I have personally inadvertently switch it to the low mode even in normal usage. |

Call/email Bright Flashlights (they're in the Industry section) - I just ordered a VTAC mount, 6P LED Defender (which already comes with a clicky tailcap), and a Malkoff M60 lamp (switch out the 6P's lamp and it gives 235 lumens , and it's like two flashlights in one) from them. Their prices are awesome - the 6P was less than you can probably find a G2 LED and add the clicky tailcap. I don't think they want their specific prices listed, but let me put it this way - my whole order was less than just an L4 or E2D LED Food for thought haha. I should be getting it in tomorrow or Saturday, Monday at the latest - I'll update everyone on performance. Good luck whatever you decide!

What will mess you up is a light with multiple-modes and the LED momentarily losing contact with the battery as the springs are compressed during recoil and switching modes on you. For that reason, the E2DL loses to the other 3, unless you use a single-stage head (KX2C). |
