I'm looking to finally put a flashlight on my ar15. I want to mount a surefire g2 or a surefire L2 and L5. I'm not sure which mount would work for those flashlight and which mount are good and can hold the flashlight without any significant wobble. I'm also looking at weapon light like the x300 from surefire. but what other weapon lights are on par with surefire?
Also just wondering, what other flashlight companies would you guys recommend. So far I like pentagon, streamlight, and surefire. Thanks |

So far I like pentagon, streamlight, and surefire. Thanks Do you have a rail system on your weapon? IF not, your mounting options are narrowed somewhat. Personally I use a Surefire G2 with an LED replacement on my carbines. It's cheap and extremely effective. Surefire X300s make excellent carbine lights, especially when mounted in the 12 o'clock position. The controls of the Surefire X series lights makes them a better option for carbines than the TLR-1, in my opinion. I have a Procyon but I don't like it as a carbine light because the controls are all wrong when it is mounted to a carbine. My personal suggestion is not to get wrapped around the axle on light choices. A simple G2 with an LED element mounted in a VLTOR mount is a superb weapon light on an AR carbine. Learning how to properly employ the light is far more important than the actual light you end up with. |

For a light, I chose the 6P LED from Surefire and mounted it on the rail with a Daniel Defense offset mount (this way it's more accessible from the FUG and I don't like using pressure switches). The DD mount is tight, wobble free and mounts with a single large regular screw (great to torque down that bitch with).
Mark LaRue's makes great gear but the quick release mounts will scratch your rails!!! I know, pretty rails on the safe-queen weapon...but it does piss me off that every time I'd move something around the LaRue mounts would leave their mark(s). I wish Surefire would get a Cree bulb...I've just gotten a Sight Mark that has 280 true lumens...badass verses the 6P's 100? Surefire is no doubt a lot better constructed but needs to watch their 6! |

They do, they use the Cree XRE in the X300. Currently the brightest LED you can buy for a 6P would be the Malkoff M60. It has TONS of spill and good throw. |
