anyone know of a decent laser similar in style to the lasermax uni-max? that is a short, rail mounted laser to be used more for the short range? thanks.

Have a Uni-Red Lasermax. Easy to use, ambidextrious switch, easy to aim, and it comes with the neccessary tools. The beam can be set to pulse or continuous. There is also an optional tail-switch for it, too.

But for the price, size, weight, and reliability, there is no other, i have a lasermax uni-max on my ar and it does great

+1 for LaserMax. I recommend the Uni-Green model. Highly visible at 50yds on a partly cloudy day.
