I think I could mount this on my ar for night time hog hunting. I like the fact its rechargeable. Whats your opinion on this light as a weapon light?

Got one right next to me as I type this....

Awesome light but the length alone would prevent you from mounting it, it's close to a foot long. If that didn't bother you then the standoffs would have to be like 4" due to the width of the light at it's widest point.

Great light just not anywhere near a mounted weapon light.

Its the Stinger HP, its about 8 inches long. I am going to try it with some high scope ring mounts on my front rails. I hope it will work.

Very poor choice, in my opinion. If you must have a rechargeable, which I fail to understand, the Strion would be a much better choice.

dude just find a light that takes removable rechargable batteries instead of putting that huge honkin light on you rifle.

I've got a couple Stingers I used to run on my duty belt. It could work if you used offset rings or a FSB mount. If you use the standard switch I think it would fit better, but my opinion is that the tailcap switch on the length of the Stinger would put it too far back. The weight could also be an issue.

The biggest problem is that you probably will have to remove the light from the rings each and every time you want to put the light in the charger, as it will not fit in the standard charger with the rings where you should install them to still be practical. I have seen some chargers for just the batteries, but I've never used those.

Another option is to look into Surefire's. I believe they have some lights that can be upgraded to NiMh batteries to recharge. I personally don't use rechargeables, just because the cost of the Surefire 123 batteries has been decent enough and the lights runtime has been good enough to me to not bother with the other costs. My $35 G2 can run a long time on batteries before I get to the cost of a Stinger or other rechargeable light.

my stinger is a great duty flashlight.  But its not a weaponlight.  way too heavy and bulky.  A cheap surefire g2 works way better.  find some place that sells cr123's cheap.
