I've been looking around for a light but it seems that there are just too many damn choices and I don't know enough about them to make an informed decision. I'm going to mount it on the side of my quad rail system. The rifle is a RRA Entry Tac.

I'm looking for the best and the brightest (lol) but I also want to keep the weight/bulk factor down. Money's not really a concern for this project.

I'm leaning towards Surefire, what do ya'll think about the Millenium Universal M962XM07 or the Scout Light M600C?

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I just used the live.com and ebay %30 off to get a new in box surefire x300 for $140.00...110 lumens (more than scout LED), 3.7 ounces, built to withstand handgun recoil (often more abrupt than a .223), uses common batteries (123s) and only takes up a small amount of rail space.....I think that it is PERFECT.

Surefire is a great company but they are proud of their gear.  Look at either the Scout light which is standard at 120 lumens but has a lot of accesories.  It is a really versatile light and can be used on the belt as a duty light or thrown on a rifle quickly.

If you don't have a foregrip for your rifle yet then you could look at the M900 which is a foregrip and light combined.  This is a great light that has one big light at 125 lumens for 60 minutes or you could purchase the additional head and enjoy 225 lumens for 20 minutes.  There is also two small LED's for small amounts of light when needed.  A great light but it is expensive at $625.00 retail.  They can be found on the internet for as little as $550.00 and you can find them on ebay and similar sites for cheaper than that.  You can also consider a company called RICO which builds a light exactly like the surefire M900.  The beam actually looks better than Surefires and it offers all the same features but is around $250.00.  It doesn't have the name but it does have the function.  Their 1st generation light was not great and had wiring issues but that has been remedied in their 2nd generation so you can save the dollars.

Other than these two there are literally hundreds of lights out there that can be mounted in a larue light holder.  Shop around and see what makes you happy.  It doesn't have to say Surefire to be good.

And they should be. They make the best.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with this. ADM vs. LaRue is one thing, but the Rico is a blantant exact copy. I can never advocate buying copy cats.

Yes. Blackhawk Gladius in a Larue mount comes to mind. Pentagon lights are very similar in design to Surefire, but at a lower price point. Modularity is not as good and their LED lights leave a little to be desired.

I have all Surefire lights. I like the company and they have a good warranty.

No disresprect but "Blatant exact copy"?  In the marketplace everything is tied to trademark and copyright.  Anything outside of the scope of these legal definitions is fair game.  It is called the marketplace and Rico is charging at least one half in some cases one third of surefires price.  Take Stoners design for god sake.  How many companies are now making this rifle.  Look at the PC.

If Rico is breaking the law then string them up and let them pay the price but they are in their second generation of this light and if they were in violation of these laws I'm pretty sure surefire would have  halted their production by now.  The one that I have seen is just as good in terms of light output, feel and function although I have not had the opportunity to see how it holds up over the long term.
