I picked up my Offset Tactical Aiming Laser (OTAL) with ARMS mount for my Colt 6920 from Victor at Tactical Night Vision yesterday.  First I have to commend Victor for his prompt responses to my questions, helpful and informative style and outstanding prices.

So I picked up the OTAL and the first thing you notice is that it is built like a tank.  Solid metal construction, battery cap has a retention strap (single AA battery), switch is solid with positive stops for off, momentary and on.

I took it up to my range to put a couple of rounds through it.  Laser is easily visible past 25 yards in direct sunlight on the target.  Elevation and windage adjustments are easy to manipulate but the knobs have a guard to prevent accidental changes.  Adjustments are solid but still move easily under finger pressure.

My OTAL is mounted on a Troy drop-in rail on my 6920.  The OTAL is designed to be mounted on top of the rail, directly behind the FSB.  If you want to mount the laser on the side of the rail, Laser Devices makes the ITAL for that application.  The rail is not free floating so it does have just a touch of movement.  This movement translated into under 1/2 inch of laser dot movement at 25 yards.  40 rounds fired, would have fired more but I had things to do that day.  I matched up the laser with my Aimpoint M4 sight and I was good to go.

At night, the laser dot is clearly visible to the unaided eye at over 200 yards.

I think the OTAL is a winner in my limited experience so far.  Again I have to thank Victor and his outstanding service.  The OTAL is not cheap, but this is for a duty weapon and I firmly believe in buy once, cry once.

First, is it red or green?

Second, just how not cheap was it?

I've seen the red laser OTAL for about 465 online. I called LaserDevices last week to inquire about the green OTAL and they told me it was over $1000.00 (about 1035ish) and the wait was about 3 to 6 months.
