Does any one have a Surefire L4 mounted on their AR15? How is it performing? Pics would be great.

The only answer I've gotten so far is that the L4 is only good for indoors. That it does not light up objects at longer distances. Any other reasons?

The L4 would not be my first choice for use as a weapon-mounted light:

The light isn't broken. It's just poorly designed for use as a weapon-mounted light. I use the L4 for everyday carry and have a G2L with Z59 clickie tailcap and a Malkoff drop-in 60L LED on my carbine.

I have not had any issues with the light it is great.  It is great for indoors and room clearing but outside it lacks the throw of a high powered light.  I do not use the blue filter often and only for low light navigation.  Overall the L4 is light, compact, and bright for indoor use.  It has a nice flood beam to it.

i've got a surefire scout on mine, which is similar to the L4, works fine for urban stuff, a brighter lite would be better for some scenarios though.

i'm sure an L4 would be fine though.

I used an L4 with the KL4 head until the KX2C head came out.
The KX2C is the same size as the KL4, but man is it nice.
The beam is not near as wide, but it throws about 100 yards.

I also use the blue filter when I only need a small amount of light.
