I just purchased a TLR-1 with a 8" rifle switch. To activate the switch you have to really give it a good hard squeeze. It takes so much pressure to activate that I can only hold it in the on position for short bursts. I don't like that as I'm using it on my shotgun for home protection and I may need it to stay on for longer than a few seconds.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the "tape switch" that Streamlight makes. Can anyone tell me if the Streamlight "tape switch" takes less pressure to operate than the rifle switch? How do you like the tape switch?

Mine doesn't take an unusual amount of pressure to activate and hold down.  I'd contact Streamlight and get another one.
