Which do you prefer for your AR? - The TLR-1 or the M3 Streamlight? I am looking to get one and I am not sure which one is better. Thanks in advance. |

I've owned three M3 lights and all three were junk. I've seen many more that stopped working. I wouldn't buy another one if they were $5. I currently own a Surefire X200A. This is the second X200A that I've had, the first one went back for repair once and was replaced by Surefire the second time it took a shit. I also own a TLR1 and they seem to be of good quality. I haven't used mine much yet, pretty much a backup in case my X200A dies again, but there are several guys running them on my team and I've not heard of any problems with them. Of your two choices I'd definitely go with the TLR1. |

I got a TLR-1, i've mounted it on both my XD and my XCR. When mounted with a vertical grip on the xcr I can bump the momentary or on/off settings with one of my finger tips. If you set it up on the right side rail you can hold the momentary with your thumb. The TRL-1 is built sturdy and uses a very bright LED that I think compares to my G2 with the standard bulb. Runtime with the LED is considerably longer than the incandescent of the G2. Enjoy |
+1 I have an M6, and although it has never failed me, I just don't trust the materials used in its contruction. It now lives on my 9mm AR SBR, which is just a range toy, and in that application it is fine. For a light mounted to a pistol, I personally don't think you can beat a TLR-1. It is sturdy and does what it is supposed to do, and the price is pretty damn reasonable to boot. However, for a light mounted to a carbine, I prefer a bigger light set-up. YMMV. |
