Just picked up a couple myself from here: www.countycomm.com/MOLLELIGHT.htm , here's a pic next to a Gerber Recon for size comparison. I much prefer the anglehead & pushbutton control (both momentary & constant on/off) over the twist/push tailcap & non-angled design of the Recon. Battery life is quoted as 3hrs w/alkaline AA's (I asked and was told lithium & rechargeable AA's will void the warranty because the ML hasn't been tested w/those battery types but I was able to confirm that the Molle Light has a voltage regulator). I'll try both lithiums & NiMH rechargeables and see what happens. The ML's retention clip rotates and is much more secure than the GR's and the red filter is easily attached/removed by touch alone in the dark. The unfiltered beam is at least 3x brighter than the GR's (at the price of much shorter battery life) and when red filtered is less bright than the GR w/red filter. IMHO the ML w/red filter is sufficient for basic navigation at night (ie: what's directly in front of you) but cannot distinguish details at a distance. The included softpouch works but is a snug fit making it difficult to quickly access the ML so I have mine attached to a D-ring on my LBV (see pic) where it's quickly accessible by either hand, hangs at a good angle for hands-free illumination and attaching/removing the red filter is easily accomplished w/o removing the ML from the D-ring. Mine came w/a tiny compass in the battery cap that's marginally functional (and is easily influenced by nearby metal such as the body of the ML) but that's a minor thing considering the primary purpose of the ML. It's a great little light for the price (IMHO) w/the only caveat for me being will it run well w/lithium and/or rechargeable AA's.
