I'm looking to pick up one of these for Christmas but I'm starting to think I'm dyslexic.

www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/carfnbr/266/sesent/00

I see 2 of each model there, and the descriptions seem to say the same thing 225 lumens with a high output lamp.

My questions are, this is going on my AR-10A4 Carbine:

1. Does the larger lamp basically just give you a larger surface area of light (M900A and M910A)?

2. What in the heck is the difference between the two smaller lamp VFGs?

3. What would you recommend to me?

The M900A & M910A feature the std. 1.6" bezel and have both 125 & 225 lumens lamps which can push on out to 100-120+ yds.

The AB variants feature the 2.5" turbohead bezel which will increase the beam's throw (range) though it does have a reduced flood pattern.  The lamp outputs are rated the same but the turbohead will increase your range by approx. 25-30%. (130-150+ yds.)

So what are the differences between the 900A and 910A?

The M900A & M900AB feature the A.R.M.S. throw-lever mount.

The M910A & M910AB feature the dual thumb-screw mount.

The "A" version features the standard "M3" bezel:

The "AB" version features the TurboHead bezel:

As mentioned the deeper, larger diameter reflector of the TurboHead produces a more intense beam that illuminates targets at greater range compared to the standard bezel [even though the amount of light being produced is the same].

This is the "A" bezel next to the "AB" TurboHead:

The TurboHead version tends to be more useful outdoors and in rural environments.

Thanks Size that helped me between the AB and A, now I just need to figure out the difference between 900 A and 910 A

I've read the specs and can't find anything different.

From the surefire website,

The Millennium M900A Vertical Foregrip WeaponLight attaches to Picatinny rail interface-equipped weapons via a built-in A.R.M.S. throw-lever mount.

The Millennium M910A Vertical Foregrip WeaponLight attaches to Picatinny rail interface-equipped weapons via a built-in dual thumbscrew mount.

They really need to add some sort of chart to their site so you can keep track of all of the minor variances. Their descriptions are a bit lacking.

For the sake of my own curiosity, can the Larue throw-lever mount be added to both?

Thanks man, didn't see it

So which is better the ARMS or the dual thumbscrew as far as stability and etc?

I've got headaches from trying to figure out which light I want, and find all of the accessories/spares I need.
And they don't always list everything in their catalog.

Perhaps it would help to download the 2006 Tactical Products Catalog (pdf) from SureFire?

Yes, the LT170 can replace the replace the ARMS mount on the M900 systems as well replace the thumbscrew mount on the M910's.

The dual thumbscrew mount offers more bearing surface over the rail assembly so I tend to lean towards it but you should periodically check to make sure the thumbscrews don't loosen any.

I'd love to be a customer for your help.

You might want to check out the best of both worlds, a great mount and a good price.  If you go to Larue's website they sell the M900 with the larue mount for the same price you usually see the M900 for by itself.
