I have owned lights and checked out plenty of lasers from both manufactures and I think they are both top notch.

Surefire seems to have about 90% of the market share, does this mean that people like them better
I'm interested in your opinions.

SF has a pretty tight grasp on the light market; they simply offer the most versatile lineup and have the greatest compatabilty.

As for the lasers, the SF L72 is a powerful laser but LDI's lasers are certainly in the same league.  Laser Devices has great performance, various models to choose from and complete packages that are noteably less expensive than the competition.

Surefires Lasers are WAY too big, havy and expensive while only being very slightly better that LD in terms of beam output and quality.  LD owns the rail mounted laser market the way Surefire owns the flash light market.

Market share in the light business, I would agree SF leads the way...I feel LD leads the way in regards to Lasers.  Specifically, their DBAL and OTAL line of visible and IR lasers lead the way.  SF thus far does not offer a competitive product with these, as well as LD's MOLAD, Blast, etc.  I do not think you could even start to compare the two in regards to lasers.

I'm a huge Surefire fan and their laser is one of the best but I think I would go with laser devices OTAL
