Can anyone comment on this weaponlight? How does it compare to the SF X200? Would it hold up to the recoil of a shotgun? |

Quoted: Can anyone comment on this weaponlight? How does it compare to the SF X200? The M3X is much better than the M3, but doesn't stand up to the X200A or X200B and especiall doesn't hold up agains the Laser Devices LAS/TAC 2 (which is better quality and cheaper IMHO). The spare bulbs run around in the $20 range and there are not any dark spots in the bulb. I personally think an LED light is the best choice for a shotgun or Handgun (laser devices makes a LED model of the LAS/TAC as well). C4 |

OK, Grant. Now you've got my attention. Tell me more about the LAS/TAC 2. Do you sell the LED version, and can you give me the specs of the LED version? Will the regular LAS/TAC 2 hold up on a shotgun? What are your thoughts on visible lasers? ETA: Is the LAS/TAC 2 better than the Surefire X200? |

If you still care... My M3X is noticably brighter than my standard Surefire Nitrolon light, but not by much. The beam is adjustable for focus which, IMO, is more of a pain that anything, I'd prefer the dimpled reflector like the Surefires have. It is reasonably light, easy to use and only costs 1/2 an arm and 1/3 of a leg. Overall I'm happy, useable range is about 100 yds from what I remember testing it out earlier in the year. 200 yds you could probably spot a person in clothes that didn't blend with the surroundings and at 300 you'd probably be able to spot a vehicle, not just from the reflectors either. |
Here is info on the LAS/TAC 2 series: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=89&t=266271 I think the LAS/TAC 2 would stand up to a shotgun, but still think an LED is a better choice. I am a fan of a visible laser (if used correctly). The Blast 2 would offer you these options. C4 |

The Las/Tac 2 and the BLAST 2 are both rated 95 lumens and will each have an approx.1 hour runtime. The Las/Tac 2 LED is rated 125 lumens with an approx. 1.75 hr. runtime but please note that the 125 lumen rating is based on its flood pattern (which is very broad). If you're considering an LED then my advice would be to go with the X200A due to the longer throw it offers. Though I like the Las/Tac 2 I have to admit that the SF X200A/B & ITI M3X may be a better long term choice because they fit both Universal & Picatinny rail systems. |
