| Well, I'm saving up on a Surefire Classic Barrel Mounted-light (I blew all my money on my ML2) and was wondering if there is a mount like it out in the market that is designed to be attatched to the barrel. I am hoping to attatch my Maxfire (from Wallie World) to it as I save up for my Surefire. Any thoughts? |

Brugger & Thomet Go to : Products - Mounting Systems - Light & Laser Mounts - M4, M16 and Clones Barrel Mount |
You could try this:![]() www.bushmaster.com/shopping/bmas/yhm-639.asp |

Quoted: Brugger & Thomet That's a nice website, but they don't sell directly to individuals...gotta find a gunsmith |

Elmer: I need something like that but I only need one rail. I have an M3 light that I can't mount on my handguard due to the gun rack clamping around there in my squad car. So, I want to put my M3 on the barrel but haven't seen any rail adapters for the barrel area. That bushmaster product would work but is $70 for 3 rails and I only need one rail and was hoping for something cheaper. Does anyone have any ideas? |

Is this the bayonet lug mount you were talking about? I think this would work really well! www.makosecurity.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SBS&Category_Code=RL |

That's not the mount I had in mind, but it is interesting. The mount I have is below: In this picture note the allen screw coming out of mount and touching the barrel. This screw isn't included with the mount. In a class I took I learned the importance of having the light roughly aimed with the barrel. Before I added the allen screw the light was aimed low beyond 35 yards. The allen screw allows me to control the angle of the mount, therefore aiming the light. This won't work on a match grade rifle because the contact on the barrel will slightly lessen accuracy, but for a patrol rifle it doesn't make enough difference to matter. I think the effect on accuracy is minimized due to the screw contacting between the FSB mount, so the barrel harmonics are already impacted by the FSB. |
