| Just curious, I have several surefire G2s, 6P, 9P, 9AN. I have no LED surefire stuff. How useful for non tactical type applications is the surefire LED head? I've noticed most LEDs are very bright to look into but provide very little useable light. Is the surefire setup any better? I'd be looking for decent light output hoping not to get too far below the P60 lamp levels. How much are the LED heads for the above lights going for? How long is battery life with those heads. I know my standard SFs eat up batteries. |
The LED heads from SF are very bright for sure and give you a purer white light. The down side is that they do not have the same amount of throw that a standard bulb would give you. Two other benefits of the LED are longer battery life and shock proof. C4 |
Mine was about $45, for a 3 watt luxeon LED. (The KL3) Talk to Brightflashlights, he can get you a good price. I think you can go to a higher wattage LED than 3 for the 6P series. Not exactly sure. Surefire does make a 5 watt LED head. |

I just got a L5 Lumamax from Grant and was amazed how it made the beam on my E2e and G2 lights look almost yellow. The L5 is a great light. It has better battery life and a wider beam (there is some “spill,” which is a good thing IMHO). Read this review for more info on the L5 specifically and some info on the LEDs in general. The E2e is still my "carry everywhere" light, but the L5 is my "walk the dog / night stand" primary light. If you have any specific questions, please ask. |
