Here's the situation.  My girlfriend isn't a big fan of the dark, and there have been a few stolen car lately at her parking garage.  Put simply, I feel a SureFire light would give her peace of mind, esp. one with a strike bezel!  With a cursory glance at SureFire.com I thought the E2D Executive Defender would be ideal.  But the second opinion at ar15.com is wanted.  The requirements are as follows:  brightest and smallest available.  Price doesn't matter( at least in this instance).
Thank you for your help and or suggestions.

The E2D or E2E series would be ideal for her because of the size and the output. While the E2D's strike bezel can be used as a defensive tool you have to think about if she's willing to use it in that role.  One concern I have is that over time she may not like the strike bezel because it has a tendency to eat up leather, denim, etc. depending upon how it's carried.

See, something I didn't know.   Can I get the E2D w/o bezel, i.e. smooth surface?  Thanks for the quick reply.

The E2E is basically the E2D but with a smooth bezel.

While not a strike bezel, the front edge of the standard bezel on the E2e, if judiciously applied, will certainly not be a pleasant feeling when it slams you...hard and repeatedly... in the eye or across the bridge of the nose!

I have two E2e's and, after seeing an E2D decided against one for my use, but they sure are wicked!

Try looking into a Brinkmann Maxfire LX, $20 bucks at walmart.  It already has an easy to use "clicky" tailcap.  I have one.  I like it a lot.  Batteries can be purchased at batterystation.com for a dollar a piece if you are a candle power forums member, or at 1.25 if you are not.  Other batteries can be purchased from Battery Station at a greatly discounted price.

The following is NOT meant to sound like a smart ass.....

Please, don't buy a flashlight for your girlfriend, with the intent of her using it as a weapon... WITHOUT any training.  There are people who have been trained to use such short sticks, kubotans, as weapons.  With a name like "karateKid", you might be one of them, but I don't know.  Sometimes, that will only escalate the situation.

I am about to give you the "typical arfcom answer".....

Get her that flashlight... and train her to use it in conjunction with a 1911, in 45acp, as God intends.

Have a good one.

I run an E2D with a standard clickie tailcap.   The "thumb-eater" tailcap that comes on the E3D is rediculous.

I still have the front-end to inflict pain with.

I'm a huge fan of the E2e.  It's what I carry daily.  Very nice flashlight.

Stainless--

I know absolutly nothing about karate, I  just liked the movie.
"Get her that flashlight... and train her to use it in conjunction with a 1911, in 45acp, as God intends"   Just picturing her with a 1911 made me crack up. Well that and her actually using the bezel.  The way I know her, the flashlightwas something that would make her worry less, more than anything else.  But her 21st Birthday is coming up....he

Good idea, but she needs something a little more potent, with a little more "stand off" distance to give her peace of mind.

Don't get the Defender model.  Just get an E2e.  The Defender is just a gimmic to get you to shell out a few extra bucks for a useless spiked bezel.  The spiked tailcap is especially retarded.

Uhm negative ghost rider! If your in a situation where you cannot carry a knife or a gun then the E2D is your next best option.

All she needs is a tiny X200 with a bullet spitter mounted to it

The only time I can't carry a knife or a gun is when I have to go through a metal detector.  Laws and rules are nothing but an artificial barrier.  I don't go anywhere where there's a metal detector.

Exactly! I take my E2D on the plane with me!
