Does anyone know what the actaul purpose of a visible laser?

I understand the usefulness of an infared one, but never really figured out what a visible laser could do for me.

Same thing as the infrared laser, except you can see it without NV gear as can everyone else, in less than full direct sunlight, and may be purchased by civilians in the US.

Also a great cat toy...

Yah, it was the everyone else could see it that baffled me as to what the tactical advantage of having it would be....

Although I do agree on the cat toy use.

A visible laser is a VERY intimidating tool and has been used by many a SWAT officer to defuse a violent situation. They have their place juse like a weapon light...

CT teams have used them for aiming purposes when wearing gas masks for some time . Flashbangs and smoke gernades tend to obscure targets.
