Modlite ModButton Lite are pretty nice. Also the EC1 cap is a nice profile for the shorties.

Still figuring out my setup.  I want to run a white light parallel to an IR light.  This is what I've come up with so far.

The DBAL and the IR light are controlled by a TAPS-SYNC.  White light (Modlite) is a Hot Button.

I know it looks front heavy, but it's not too bad.

Hey, what is the light that is all one piece with the switch that mounts to the top rail with no wires? I saw it once but don't remember what company it was.

eta: never mind I think I just found it in this thread. Cloud Defensive OWL. Anyone have experience with it? Good/bad? US made or Chinesium?

Swapped the HLX for a REIN today. I'm about to jump on the Modlight train just so I never have to deal with anything LCS again.

I don't have one myself, but I've seen students bring them to my low-light classes.  It's an excellent product, very bright, durable and well designed.

My only complaint is lack of customization, but as it is, it's a very nice light.

Modded a LaRue double mount for use with Scout lights.  Works great!

Also added a mounting plate so I could put my Hot Button where I wanted it.  The idea here is to be able to move NVS gear between guns as easily as possible.

PLHv2 mounted with an ADM Mount

Not as high speed as some of you but it allows me to move the light between rifles as needed. One of these days I’ll put a 10” rail on the Colt.

I'm trying to decide on a PLHv2 or an OKW replacement head for the M640DF/SR07 that's on my do-all rifle. Anyone have any inputs?

Plhv2 has more spill, okw is more like a spotlight, both are equally awesome.
I would recommend the plhv2 for an all around defensive rifle.
Okw for a varmint or long range night shooting rifle.

So, based on the informative input (thank you!),  I'm about ready to purchase a PLHv2 head to replace the head on a SF M640DF w/ a UE cap and SR07 switch,...which does indeed throttle the output way back. But before FO-ing, I'd really like to know for sure that the Modlite PLHv2 head won't suffer that same 'throttling'. Can anyone testify?

Using a surefire switch with a modlite will indeed decrease your output.
"One problem that exists today is that older switches are not able to pass the current needed to run current and future generation lights. These older switch designs do not allow Modlite light heads to run at full power.  Typically these switches reduce output by 15-20%. ModButton Lite utilizes an updated plug design as well as improved electronics that allow the Mod Button Lite to output at full power so all the lumens and candela can be put to good use."

Will the Modlite ModButton plug into a Surefire UE cap?

Absolutely. Surefire tailcaps are the only interface available currently.

You will be good to go with the Modlite PLHv2, Surefire UE tailcap and the ModButton Lite.

I went with the OKW for my 640DF, no more dimming. I'm definitely going to be buying a PLHv2 for my future 14.5 recce upper project. Team Modlite all the way now.

IWC TMC scout mount with an Arisaka 300 body and Malkoff E1HT thread. Requires two 3/16” holes drilled into the MOE SL handguard but it works perfectly. Plenty of clearance inside the handguard.
