| I bought a Streamlight TL-2 that I wanted to mount on my ar-15. I decided to buy this model because it is more powerful than both the surefire 6p and scorpion and a better price. Only problem is that it is too small to use 1" rings to mount it and I cant find any smaller rings...suggestions on how to mount it..PLEASE! |

Quoted: i measured the difference to be about a 1/4" I would check out the hardware store. Look in the section with plastic or PVC piping. You may be able to find a section of plastic pipe, that you could split down the center making a shim that would slip over the light. Or instead of splitting it down one side only, split it in half, making two shims that you can place 180 out from each other under the rings. Hope that's clear enough. That's the route I would be looking at. |

Here's a few quick fix ideas - Bicycle innertube wrapped to an appropriate thicknes. Enhancing what QUIB posted, go to the hardware store and get a piece of thinwall 1" diameter copper tubing and get a roll of teflon plumbers tape. You will then need to cut a section of the tubing to match the ring width. After that, split the copper tubing and actually remove a 1/4" or so (I'm guessing). Next, use the teflon tape to wrap the body where you want to place the ring & shim, the teflon tape will help protect the finish and you'll increase grip. Try assembling the copper tubing over the flashlight body then drop all of it in the 1" ring and see what happens. As soon as I get a chance I'll try this myself and take photos. One other option is the TRG Gear mount that will clamp varying diameter lights and equipment but I must warn you this mount is somewhat bulky - |
